Our Daybreak Participants & Programs
There are currently about 75 older adults who
attend Daybreak Adult Day Services, Inc. They include mainly older
adults with Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s
disease, stroke, dementia, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, head injury,
depression, as well as those in need of stimulation for physically
aging conditions. Admission of younger adults is reviewed on a
case-by-case basis.
Participants engage in a variety of programs which include music and
art, drama, cooking, gardening, arts n’ crafts, and such social
activities as playing cards, puzzles and men’s and women’s discussion
groups. Special performances by Daybreak’s very own theatrical troupes,
“Ringers and Singers” and “The Serendipity Players” entertain
participants and guests. Older adults also enjoy such special activities
as: field trips, feature presentations, holiday events and an
intergenerational program with preschool youngsters.

Meals
All participants enjoy specially prepared meals,
which consist of a continental breakfast, a hot lunch and a
mid-afternoon snack. Meals are accompanied by
a choice of a hot or cold beverage. All meals are geared toward an
individual’s special needs and diet.
Medical
There is blood pressure screening and medication is dispensed under the
supervision of a Registered Nurse and
certified nursing assistants. Daybreak has established close ties with
the medical community in Frederick County. Therefore, each participant
at Daybreak has an individualized and monitored health plan in
conjunction with his or her physician.
Also, Daybreak assures that
participants get to their doctor’s appointments on time by providing
transportation to and from physician’s offices. We offer podiatry
services, physical/occupational/speech therapy
services in house.
Cost
Payment can be made on a sliding scale for those
needing financial assistance. VA benefits,
Medicaid, and some long term care insurances
may apply.
